Francisco Lima Santos
After graduating from Lisbon’s Escola Superior de Música, violinist Francisco Lima Santos went on to study at Brussels’ Royal Conservatory. He then studied with Anna Chumachenko at Madrid’s Escuela Reina Sofia, graduating in 2016. Francisco attended masterlacasses with Antje Weithaas, Veronika Hagen and Francesca Vicari. His experience as an orchestra musician includes Portuguese Youth Symphony, Orquestra XXI, the European Union Youth Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra and Munich Philharmonic. He was the 2016 winner of Vasco Barbosa Strings Competition in Lisbon, which enabled him to perform as a soloist with Portuguese Symphony Orchestra at São Carlos Opera House. Francisco is a member of Artium Piano Trio, who got 1st. Prize at the 2016 edition of Portugal’s Prémio Jovens Músicos. At the invitation of Diemut Poppen, he performed at Lisbon’s Cantabile Festival of chamber music side by side with prestigious chamber musicians from around the world. Francisco has been 1st. assistant concertmaster of Gulbekian Orchestra since 2017.
