David Castro-Balbi began playing the violin at the age of five. He graduated from the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (class of Sv\u00e9tlin Roussev), the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin (class of Kolja Blacher) and the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar (class of Friedemann Eichhorn). \nHe was chosen at the age of fifteen to play with the Acad\u00e9mie Internationale de Musique at Victoria Hall in Geneva and at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Champs Elys\u00e9es in Paris under the baton of Seiji Ozawa in 2009. \nCastro-Balbi received several 1st prizes at many national and international competitions. He won 1st prize at the Young Artist Competition in Colorado, the Mirecourt International Violin Competition, the International Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists in Weimar, the Bacewicz Chamber Music International Competition in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, among others. \nHe was a soloist with the orchestra of Theater Gera-Altenburg. Since March 2021 he has been a guest soloist with the Staatskapelle Weimar. David Castro-Balbi frequently appears in a trio with cellist Alexandre Castro-Balbi and pianist Lucas Debargue. \nHe plays a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini (1690), which once belonged to Louis Spohr.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
