The Convento dos Capuchos is a former convent of the Order of Saint Francis, located in the Protected Landscape of Arriba F\u00f3ssil da Costa de Caparica, in the municipality of Almada, from which you can see not only the Costa de Caparica, and its extensive beach coast, but also a splendid landscape of the coast of Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais.
The elegant lines of the Convent establish the balance with the magnificent view achieved from its location over the Atlantic, where Tagus meets the sea. The building's simplicity reflects the Franciscan principles of the community that built the Convent in the 16th century.
Recovered by the Municipality of Almada in 2000, the building maintains its original design combined with the conditions of a small but modern cultural center, particularly devoted to \u200b\u200bmusic and the visual arts.
Between 1980 and 2001, under the artistic direction of Jos\u00e9 Adelino Tacanho, the Convent was the stage of Festival de M\u00fasica dos Capuchos, an event that left an indelible mark on the county's cultural identity.
