João Moreira

João Moreira has been a trumpet player with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa since 2019. Between 2012 and 2017, he was the Solo Trumpet of MusicAeterna in Perm (Russia), under the direction of conductor Teodor Currentzis, performing in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.

In 2017, he returned to Portugal and won the competition for the position of Solo Trumpet with the Orquestra Clássica do Sul. 

He has been awarded prizes in several competitions, both in Portugal and the United States of America, notably by the International Trumpet Guild (ITG). He has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras, including the MusicAeterna Orchestra (Perm, Russia), Symphony Academic Orchestra of Rostov (Rostov-on-Don, Russia), Orquestra Clássica do Sul, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra Académica Metropolitana, Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra (Russia), and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.

He holds a Master’s degree in Performance from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg (Germany), where he studied with renowned professor Matthias Höfs.
