Alfonso Pinto-Ribeiro was born in Porto in 2005.
He had his first piano lessons at the age of four with his mother, pianist Rosa Maria Barrantes, and began studying the violin at the age of seven.
Estudou na Academia de Música de Santa Cecília, em Lisboa, com Denis Stetsenko e Lígia Soares, continuando os seus estudos de violino no Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa, com Joana Cipriano.
He studied at the Academia de Música de Santa Cecília in Lisbon with Denis Stetsenko and Lígia Soares, later continuing his violin studies at the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa with Joana Cipriano.
He has been awarded prizes in several violin competitions, including First Prize at the "Vechi Costa" Competition in 2021 and Second Prize at the Verão Clássico Festival in 2024.
He has taken part in numerous violin masterclasses with internationally renowned professors such as Mihaela Martin, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, and Jack Liebeck, among others. He has also studied with Mateja Marinkovic in Belgrade and Stephan Picard in Berlin. In the field of chamber music, he worked under the guidance of Miguel da Silva and Lars Anders Tomter.
He has performed in various concerts, with highlights including appearances at the Verão Clássico Festival in Lisbon, the Cidnay Festival in Vale do Ave, the Bragança ClassicFest, and the Festival de Musique de Prémery in France.
