Miguel Pereira attended the Dance School of the National Conservatory and the Higher School of Dance in Lisbon. He was a scholarship holder in Paris (Théâtre Contemporain de la Danse) and in New York with a grant from the Ministry of Culture.
As a performer, he worked, among others, with Filipa Francisco, Francisco Camacho, and Vera Mantero. He participated in the play and film "António, Um Rapaz De Lisboa" by Jorge Silva Melo, worked with Jérôme Bel on "Shirtologia (Miguel)" (1997), and was a performer in "Les Inconsolés" by Alain Buffard, in the restaging of the play in 2017.
As a creator, he highlights works such as "Antonio Miguel," a piece for which he received the José Ribeiro da Fonte Revelation Award from the Ministry of Culture and an honorable mention from the Acarte/Maria Madalena Azeredo Perdigão Award (2000), "Notas Para Um Espectáculo Invisível" (2001), "Data/Local" (2002), "Corpo de Baile" (2005), "Karima meets Lisboa meets Miguel meets Cairo," a collaboration with Egyptian choreographer Karima Mansour (2006), "Doo" (2008), "Antonio e Miguel," a new collaboration with Antonio Tagliarini (2010), "Op. 49" (2012), "WILDE" (2013) a collaboration with the mala voadora, "Repertório para Cadeiras, Figurinos e Figurantes" (2015) for the Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte, "Peça para Negócio" and "Peça feliz" (2017), "Era um peito só cheio de promessas" (2019), "Falsos Amigos" (2021) in collaboration with Guillem Mont de Palol, and "Miquelina e Miguel" (2022) based on the relationship between Miguel and his 87-year-old mother diagnosed with dementia.
In 2003, 2007, and 2015, he created pieces for the repertoire of the Transitions Dance Company/Laban Centre, "Transitions," "Transitions II," and "Transitions III," which were part of the company's national and international tours (2003/2004, 2007/2008, and 2014/2015).
In 2003, he was the subject of a mini-retrospective in Caldas da Rainha, integrated into the "Mapas" cycle organized by Transforma-AC in collaboration with ESTGAD.
His work has been presented throughout Europe, Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile, and he is a guest teacher at various national and international institutions.
Since 2000, invited by Vera Mantero, he has been an associated artist with the O Rumo do Fumo structure.
