Semaan Wehbe is a Lebanese violinist currently based in Berlin. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Barenboim-Said Akademie, where he studied with Professor Mihaela Martin, and is presently pursuing a Master of Music at the same institution under the guidance of Professor Rainer Honeck, concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Semaan has been a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra since 2022, performing under the baton of Daniel Barenboim in prestigious venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the Salzburg Festival, and the Liceu Opera House in Barcelona. His orchestral experience is complemented by solo engagements across Europe and the Middle East.
His solo repertoire spans concertos by Sibelius, Mendelssohn, and Mozart, as well as cornerstone solo works by J.S. Bach and Eugène Ysaÿe. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Amman Chamber Orchestra, the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, and the NDU Strings Ensemble.
Semaan is an active chamber musician and has participated in numerous masterclasses and festivals, working with internationally acclaimed artists such as Miriam Fried, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, and members of the Artemis and Michelangelo String Quartets.
He is a prize-winner in several competitions, including First Prize at the Lion’s Foundation Junior Violin Competition, and continues to build a dynamic career that bridges his Middle Eastern heritage with a deep commitment to the classical tradition.
