Born in Buenos Aires, Marcelo Nisinman is widely regarded as one of today’s greatest bandoneon players. To his skills as a performer he adds a large output of musical works involving the instrument, which range from solo works to symphonic pieces and musical theater works. While studying in his native city, he had the opportunity of contacting closely with A. Piazzolla and the two would develop a one of its kind master-disciple relationship. Later he moved to Basel (where he has lived since) to further his composition studies with Detlev Müller-Siemens at the local Musikhochschule. His versatility as an artist has enabled him to participate in musically very diverse ventures, joining eminent musicians from different musical backgrounds on stage, in the recording studio or other projects, with artists such as Martha Argerich, Gidon Kremer, Gary Burton, Fernando Suarez Paz, Assad Brothers, Charles Dutoit, among many others. In 2009, he created his own tango quartet (Tango Factory) and in 2018 he presented his new ensemble, the FRANZ quintet, in Buenos Aires. Nisinman was composer-in-residence, guest composer or a performer at prestigious venues and festivals Europe-wide. As a composer, he has been creating repertoire that joins bandoneon with string or symphonic orchestra, such as “Dark Blue Tango”, edited by Ricordi, His discography (nine releases) has been highly praised by the critics
