Pascal Moraguès is one of the leading clarinetists of our time. As a 1st Principal Solo Clarinet in Orchestre de Paris since 1981, Pascal Moraguès is also Professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne and the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía de Madrid. Throughout his career a soloist, he has played under Daniel Barenboim (who invited him at the age of 18 to become Principal Solo Clarinet in the Orchestre de Paris), Pierre Boulez, Semyon Bychkov, Carlo-Maria Giulini, Zubin Mehta, Emmanuel Krivine, Franz Brüggen, Louis Langrée and Stephan Sanderling. Pascal Moraguès is a member of Quintette Moraguès, Mullova Ensemble, Katia and Marielle Labèque Ensemble, and is often invited as Solo Clarinet by the European Chamber Orchestra. His chamber music partners include Sviatoslav Richter, Christian Zacharias, Daniel Barenboim, Elena Bashkirova, Christoph Eschenbach, Pascal Rogé, Christian Ivaldi, Brigitte Engerer, Itamar Golan, Stephen Bishop, Oleg Maisenberg, Joseph Kalichstein, Schlomo Mintz, Joshua Bell, Yuri Bashmet, Gary Hoffman, Nathalia Gutmann and Felicity Lott; trio Guarneri, the string quartets Borodin, Sine Nomine, Carmina, Amati, Prazák, Lindsay, Endellion, Jerusalem, Ysaÿe and Parisii, and with the DSCH – Schostakovich Ensemble. His recording of Brahms Quintet with the Talich Quartet is recognized nowadays as a reference. Pascal Moraguès is frequently invited to festivals such as Montreux, la Roque d'Antheron, Divonne, la Grange de Meslay and Périgord Noir, and also during the Paris chamber music season. He gives numerous concerts and Masterclasses abroad, especially in Japan, United States, Australia and throughout Europe. Pascal Moraguès has made many recordings with great musicians, such as Sviatoslav Richter, Viktoria Mullova and Quintet Moraguès, receiving several international awards.
