Rosa Maria Barrantes
Peruvian pianist Rosa Maria Barrantes studied in her native Lima, before moving to Santiago do Chile where she graduated in Piano from the Catholic University. From there she went to Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Conservatory (she studied there with Natalia Troull), earning a Doctorate of Musical Arts from that institution. Her piano duo with Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro goes back to their time together in Moscow and in addition to their many concerts in Portugal and across Europe and the USA since, they also made a recording of French music that was released on CD. As a chamber musician, was a member of the Trio Americano and she she often performs with the DSCH-Schostakovich Ensemble. She has played with great musicians of the international scene, such as Corey Cerovsek, Adrian Brendel, Pascal Moragués, Anna Samuil, Marcelo Nisinman, Chen Halevi, Jack Liebeck and Gary Hoffman, among others. Rosa Maria Barrantes was Professor of Piano and Chamber Music at the Piaget Institute, in Almada, and she is currently teaching at Lisbon’s Metropolitan Conservatory and serves as pedagogical coordinator of the Festival and Academy Verão Clássico.
