One of Portugal's leading pianists, Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro has earned broad international recognition both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. He got his degree and Doctorate of Musical Arts from the famous Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, where he studied with Lyudmila Roschina, Head of the Piano Department, thereafter working his way up in all of Portugal’s main concert halls and festivals, and in a number of prestigious concert series and festivals across Europe and North America. Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro is the founder (2006) and artistic director of the DSCH - Shostakovich Ensemble, based in Lisbon’s and considered one of the top ensembles in the current international scene. The Ensemble has recorded for Mezzo channel and performs regularly across Europe. DSCH's discography includes the 1st world recording of Shostakovich’s Complete Chamber Music for Piano and Strings and Beethoven's Opus 11 and 38 Trios (both Paraty / Harmonia Mundi), which received top distinctions from the specialized press. Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro is the artistic and pedagogical director of Lisbon’s Festival and Academy Verão Clássico, which he founded in 2015 and quickly rose to be one of the world’s most prestigious events of its kind. He is also the artistic director of Capuchos Music Festival, Bragança ClassicFest and Music4l-mente - a cycle of concerts in his native city Porto. He has released several solo CDs, highly appreciated by music critics, featuring works by Bach, Scarlatti, Seixas, Beethoven, Wagner, Debussy, Ravel, Mussorgsky, Scriabin, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, etc. His CD "Piano Seasons", recorded in France for Paraty and distributed by Harmonia Mundi, received worldwide acclaim - BBC Music Magazine, Klassik Heute (10/10), BR-Klassik (CD of the week), among others. He also recorded a CD with his wife, pianist Rosa Maria Barrantes, with whom he has a piano duo since 1998, including works by Fauré, Satie, Debussy, Poulenc and Ravel. Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro is a Steinway Artist, a distinction received in 2014 from Steinway & Sons.
