After receiving First Prize at the Borys Hmyria International Singing Competition, in Kyiv 2008, the Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Lena Belkina joined the Oper Leipzig at the age of 21. Then she became a member of Vienna State Opera. She was nominated by International Opera Awards as young singer of the year 2020/21. She is a sought-after guest at many concert stages like Jerusalem, Monte Carlo and Konzerthaus Vienna, where she accompanied José Carreras on his farewell tour. Lena Belkina sang her way into the international limelight back in 2012 with her Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. The live video recording was awarded the 64th Prix Italia and the Warsaw Festival audience prize. Since then, this film version has been shown on TV in many countries worldwide. Belkina is an acclaimed bel canto and Rossini interpreter. She was engaged at the Rossini Opera Festival in a newly revised edition of the opera Aureliano in Palmira, which won an International Opera Award, in 2015. During the past seasons, she could be seen in the world leading opera houses and productions, such as Teatro di San Carlo Napoli, Opéra de Lausanne, Grand Théâtre de Genève, New National Theater in Tokyo and Vienna State Opera. She has recorded two CDs with SONY Music: after her highly acclaimed Debut-Album “Dolci Momenti” featuring Belcanto-Arias by Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti with Alessandro de Marchi (2015), following another album “Classic Vienna” with works by Mozart, Gluck and Haydn accompanied by the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra (2017), and the album “Spring Night” songs by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, released on the label Solo Musica, in 2021. Another solo album presenting works by Ukrainian composers – “Passion for Ukraine“ - was released at the end of 2022.
