Luís Duarte Moreira started his Horn studies at Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave. Then he entered Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo in Oporto, where he studied with the professors Abel Pereira, Bohdan Sebestik and Nuno Vaz, ending his studies with maximum distinction. Later, he studied in the class of the professor Marie-Luise Neunecker in the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where he finished his master in performance with maximum grade. He won the first prize in several contests, such as Concurso Internacional de Instrumentos de Sopro “Terras de La-Salette”, in junior and senior categories, Prémio Jovens Músicos 2017 and Concurso Internacional de Sopros do Alto Minho. In 2016, he won the second prize in the Internationaler Instrumentalwettbewerb Markneukirschen and received an Honorable Mention in the Prague Spring contest. He also won the second prize of Prémio Jovens Músicos 2015 in the chamber music category with his Klaue Wind Quintet. Luís has played as a soloist with Orquestra ARTAVE, Philharmonisches Orchester Plaue Zwickau, Orquestra Gulbenkian and with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa. As an orchestra musician, he has worked with orchestras such as Orquestra Sinfónica APROARTE, Sinfónica da ESMAE, Estágio Gulbenkian para Orquestra, Orquestra Jovem Sinfónica da Galiza, Landesjugendorchester Bremen, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Fundação Orquestra Estúdio, as A soloist, Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Filarmonia da Beiras, Orquestra XXI, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra Sinfónica da Galiza e Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto - Casa da Música. He is now a member of Orquestra Gulbenkian as principal.
