Officium Ensemble

Over the last two decades, Officium Ensemble established itself in Portugal and abroad as a reference in the interpretation of 16th and 17th century polyphonic repertoire from the main European traditions, making them a household name in such prestigious international festivals as Laus Polyphoniae Antwerp and Oude Muziek Utrecht. Musicological insight, carefully worked out ensemble sound and tonal richness, and emotional and expressive intensity are hallmarks of their performances. Created by conductor Pedro Teixeira in 2001, Officium Ensemble consists of a basic group of 12 singers, which may be adapted according to repertoire requirements. Apart from the traditional ‘a cappella’ format, Officium have also performed with orchestras such as Cologne Chamber Orchestra and Divino Sospiro Baroque Orchestra. Their concerts have been regularly recorded by Portugal’s public broadcaster Antena 2.
