Bruno Chaveiro was born in 1993, and at the young age of 7, he began learning the Portuguese Fado viola in Montemor-o-Novo. Since then, Fado has been an integral part of his life. At the age of 11, he performed on stage for the first time.
Later, at the age of 15, he dared to try the Portuguese Fado guitar and immediately fell in love with it. He began studying and delving into the instrument, gradually leaving the Portuguese Fado viola behind. By 2010 (at the age of 17), he decided to fully embrace being a Portuguese Fado guitarist.
In 2011, he started to be sought after by some Fado houses in Lisbon, already being a resident musician at Casa de Fados O Bota Alta in Évora since 2007. After realizing that he couldn't "escape" his passion for the Portuguese Fado guitar, Bruno Chaveiro decided to dedicate himself professionally to Fado.
In 2013, he enrolled in the Portuguese Fado guitar degree program at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART) of the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco (IPCB). Becoming a disciple of Master Custódio Castelo, he graduated in 2016 with distinction and the highest grade (20 out of 20).
Since 2016, he has collaborated with some of the greatest artists in the Portuguese music scene such as Raquel Tavares, Mísia, Pedro Moutinho, Celeste Rodrigues, Carminho, Cuca Roseta, Buba Espinho, Marco Rodrigues, Ana Laíns, among others. Some of Lisbon's most emblematic Fado houses are also part of his history and journey.
In 2017, he embarked on a journey into composition when he realized his desire to share his creations and favorite songs with the audience. This desire, combined with 17 years of experience in Fado, 10 years playing the Portuguese guitar, and 5 years traveling the world in the name of Fado and Portuguese Traditional Music, culminated in his first solo album: "#DESATINO," released in 2019. It's a fresh album in terms of repertoire and arrangements, evoking some of the greatest Portuguese guitarists such as Fontes Rocha, José Nunes, Domingos Camarinha, Casimiro Ramos, and Custódio Castelo, as well as his own repertoire and compositions.
Whether in a trio, quartet, or quintet, Bruno Chaveiro takes his guitar on a daring journey, traversing the tradition of Fado, popular music, and showcasing his creations, with immense talent and the irreverence typical of youth.
